I'm a huge Avatar fan, just never had the drive to do some fanart, and since Book 3 came out I felt like it was a good time to try one. XD Just as the title says... I know it didn't happen that way but I just felt really bad for her at the end of the series. Don't get me wrong, the fight between her and Zuko stole the show in my opinion. Her whole "descent into madness" just left me, I dont know... disturbed and just sad... I liked Azula, even if she was evil but I wish Bryke had gone more into what happened to her instead of some crappy sentence she was sent to some kind of mental facility and monitored around the clock. Been looking for any post-comet stories about her and theres not too many :( If anyone knows of one, can they let me know? Enough ranting, please leave reviews!!

I have to agree with you in any thought of you. I don't like her end, too. I would be interesed in what she has do in the end and if she would be "normal". She has a hard childhood, so..

Wow! Excellent work on this! She really looks like the original. Beautiful. :)

As for the ending, well ..... I always liked Her, and You know why? Because Great stories need great villains ..... and Azula is one of the best villain I've ever seen in a cartoon. Without Her, ATLA won't be the same thing. :iconimevilplz:

I hope they'll make a season 4 where She come back to normal. Sorry for my bad English.

this is great, she honestly looks ten times better than zuko does in that fire lord outfit...to me for some reason zuko looks really out of place when he wears it...

Yes, her ending was unsatisfying.  Never did like the whole "she-was-shipped-to-a-mental-facility" explanation.  As ( arguably ) the greatest animated villain in history, she deserved better than that.  Her ending was empty.

I agree with :iconluliolly:... Azula is the spitting-image of her father.  So many people declare that she takes after Ursa in appearance, but her features -- not to mention her personality -- actually mirror Ozai's.  Same eyes, eyebrows, widow's peak, smirk... and the way you drew her, with her hair down, makes it all the more apparent.

Fire Lord Azula... the way it should have been!

Wow, I've been thinking that for so long! I agree, Zuko just seems to...small. The Fire Lord robes engulf him, literally and figuratively.

Azula just looks right.

The future that might have been... if not for her brother and personal issues. It looks pretty solid, and I always wanted to see Azula in the offical robes instead of her armor and a little cape. Probably easier to animate I guess.
